Default my 1986 Passat Stufenheck project

Last year I crashed my Jetta into some Norwegian chicks from Oslo, who obviously weren't able to drive properly Problem was, it was on the road up to the Galdhoppigen (highest mountain of Norway?) so it was a pretty deserted place.

But I managed to get the old Jet home and even to sell it, for parts ok, but I sold it...

Then it was time for a new car, I was lookin around for a nice 32B stationwagen, but I couldn't find a proper one. Then this sedan crossed my path, and I didn't even know they existed.. Since I was involved in the trunksociety allready I just had to buy it allthough technically it was in terrible condition.

I bought the car, drove it to Sweden, and lived there for half a year. In that time i had the opportunity to do some work on it. I changed oil, coolant, brake fluid and rearcylinders, wheels and tires, cleaned the interior and engine compartiment. changed the battery when it became winter.

but still the engine was making clouds of dark blue smoke everytime I pulled of. In january I came back to Holland and first thing to do was engine revision. I took it apart and brought the cylinder head to our man Serge, who did some magic on in (flowing and revising) changed distribution oil coolant, and the engine was running okay again.

after a couple of months I decided to lower te car, because the shocks were bad and roadholding was really crappy. I bought a set of shocks on ebay and a set of weitec springs meant for the audi 80 which I thought would fit. the front springs were ok, but at the back I found out golf springs were better.

I bought a set of new wheels, because they were just 100euros with pretty ok tires I couldn't let them get away. the type is Ronal R8.

this summer is became time for a new technical inspection APK it's called over here. off course there wasn't a good thing about the car, except it hasn't too much rust.
springs and shocks were ok, but it was too low at the front. I bought a set of koni shocks, but they couldn't get the spring to stay tight so I installed longer springs in the front.
changed a bunch of rubbers, brake hoses and new fluid again, new tires at the front, adjusted the handbrake and changed the rubber between carb and intake manifold.

the rubber did the trick and the engine was much better now. I went on holiday to sweden and norway with it and drove 6500km's it was great!

when I got home I decided it was time to do something about the seats, so I installed 2 König seats which I bought for 25 euros. Also a paintjob is in the planning but first I will have to fix the petrol filling pipe which is rusty. I started painting like you can see on the last pics, the top of the car will become black and the bottom red. all matt of course, but painting is a multi months project.

new wheels are laying around here too Alpina like rims in 4x100 meant for the bmw e30 series. 7x15 et12. I just have buy some tires for them, my old tires won't fit on them because of the low offset.

now some pics
the jetta:

with the nice wheels but still country style

lowered for the first time....in a nice evening light in may

still a bit graesy because i changed the driveaxle rubbers (dirty work)

Like the colors on that photoshop! 'Rode menie' bottom, 'motip mat zwart' on top!

Sorry to hear about your encounter with the chicks from Oslo, and yeah, the area where you crashed isnt exactly the most central part of this looong country. Sweet Passat though, the 32b has so much in common with the Audi 80 that it's almost too easy to get into the big HP league.

If you replace the subframe and change the front end into 5-cylinder specs, you can drop in an RS2 engine in that sweet old Santana of yours.

off course I can...but my wallet doesn't let me.

I don't even have money to buy more paint at the moment

also my engine is running fine, and if I want a fast car I'd rather put a g40 in my Derby 1, because that's easier to start with and much more fun.
