Default A question for some Dutchies!

Hi guys! I haven't been around here in a LONG time, but great to see it's still going strong!

I have a question that maybe you could help me with....

Lets say I was driving across the Netherlands one day - from Rotterdam at around 8 in the morning, down the A15 over towards Nijmegen, then up the A50 towards Apeldoorn, then down the A1 past Hengelo and over the border.

What sort of VAG related sights could I meet along the way? From performance specialists, to parts retailers, to scrapyards, to sales garages that specialise in older stuff, like Golf 1s/ Golf 2s. Basically anything that NL has to offer a VAG head in a day trip along that route!

I’ve been trying to find things on the internet – but my lack of Nederlands means I haven’t found much Anything you guys can think of would be great!

Hey, thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the offer! I'm not actually looking for anything in particular, but I thought would be a shame to miss any opportunities there might be in NL as I pass through!

Do JD have a store, that you can walk into and look around? That's exactly the sort of place I'm looking for, I never know what I might find there Any older VW sales specialists around? If I found a nice G60 I might even bring that home !!!

I catch your drift. Maybe you could visit the Stroeve store (pretty well known Dutch tuner, VAG only), allthough it's not really directly on your route.

Yes, i would also say Stroeve Motorsport in Hardenberg (in the middle between the A1 and the A37 further up north).

Rotterdam itself, coming off the A20, so just before the A15, exit Prins Alexander, has a big row of junkyards, not VW esspecially, but there's always quite a few there, about 8 junkyards in a row..

At the end of the A15 between Nijmegen and Arnhem you can find Bolku Tuning, he is a vw golf 1/2 specialist that builds fast engines....

Perfect!! Thanks very much guys. The trip is a long way off, so if you have any other suggestions, don't hesitate to put them in! It's a pity the stay in NL will be so short, but it will be a great trip across I'm sure

Europoort, the port on the English side is a lot closer to us than the port that the ferry goes to Hoek van Holland from

But Europoort and HvH are really just opposite the river from each other, aren't they?

Killingholme has a ferry to the Hoek, but it's freight only.

A little further south, going via Rosslare to Pembroke, and then over to Hull

The alternative would be to get the ferry direct to Cherbourg, but it's a long drive from Cherbourg up, better to travel East in the direction we want to go than south and then north again

Wow! Given it's such a busy port area, I'd have thought there was a bridge or tunnel across without having to go down to Rotterdam and back up again?

there's a small car-ferry from Maassluis to Rozenburg but that's it.
