GIVING UP MY COMPLETE FRIDOLIN COLLECTION
Two cars:
1. A 1971 restored ex-Bundespost model bought in 1982 by its actual owner directly from the Köln postoffice, the very day after it came out of postoffice use. Intensive body-off quality restoration job dating back to 1984/85. New original front panel, welded frontwings and rear wheelhousings, doorsills lower and outer sections, partially original panels. New floor halves left and right. Completely sandblasted and lower body half and chassis zinccoated. Now painted in bundespost grey genuine VW colournr ..... Original truly untouched 1200 cc engine runs like a watch; total mileage about 92000 km. It has the optional passenger folding seat and its original Eberspächer petrol heater complete in every detail. It has no parts missing, no parts changed or altered, no nonsense added. Electrical and mechanical systems in perfect working order. Original tool set and hazard warning triangle. Due to its use several days each year in summer a few minor damages of the paint have occured. The still original upholstery of the driver seat needs work now. Original VIN (German Fahrzeugbrief), spare keys as well as the Dutch license since 1985 come with it. In 1998 the chairman of the German Fridolin IG wrote about this car in the clubmagazine: "the known only one up till now in class 1A condition, all next are class 3, no one in class 2 condition" which can be proven by an issue of this magazine. The second owner (Bundespost is first) is still the actual owner.
2. A 1971 unrestored ex-Bundespost model bought in 1982 by its actual owner directly from the Köln postoffice, the very day after it came out of postoffice use, in the same buy as the car under no 1. above. It was driven by the second owner during half a year after purchase and was then stored in a dry place on blocks. total mileage about 88000 km. It is untouched ever since and not resprayed, so still in its Bundespost yellow. The original 1200 cc engine is untouched and runs like a watch. Needs a lot of bodywork, but is however never accidented, with a straight non-distorted body. It has no folding passenger seat and no petrol heater. Original VIN (German Fahrzeugbrief) and Dutch import taxpapers paid.
