my mk1 golf uk build smoothed out white stuff
hi new here, this my my mk1 been doin it for about a year or so, all done after work hours and and some odd weekends(not many)!
came into my ownership looking like this after a day or so started the body work wanted to get the bay sorted first alot of stripping cleaning grinding patching welding later many hours later in primer a few more and its in fresh paint to remove brakes from the bay area in fabed this up as the wiring on old golfs is crap thought id start a fresh and also hide all brake piping arches werent all that great and wanted to extend them a little to get the new wheels under, so got cutting spent ages trying to find a small light rear panel at resonable money but nothing came up, so thought id do my own version while I was at I thought I might aswell add a bit of contraversy in to it!! inbetween all that I was sorting the engine painting polishing etc gearbox painted had aproblem with corrosion on the box and the paint started lifting so had it blasted and just cleared over the finish lump back in bay also all chassis components were blasted and either powder coated or chromed, I had to narrow the rear beam by nearly 90mm in total to allow the wheels to get the correct look I was after lights all wired new bumpers grill all chassis components renewed and p/coated recent pictures finished at players uk came away with praised mk1 and pvw best of show. WOW is right, damn impressive mate.. love the swallow. the fact that you made your own takes away every right anybody could ever bitch about demolishing the original bla bla bla.. love everything about it, although the wheels wouldn't have been my choice.

Very very nice!

Sweet ride!
What kind of ignition system are you running on? |
absolutely awesome..
got some pics of the back of the engine? |
immaculate car.. Really fancy your way of working; just doing your own thing by creating a swallow yourself. The engine really deserves a compliment; very clean/neat engine bay.

Damm, nice mk1 !!

Awesome MK1 you build there.
Lot's of work on the engine (bay). How did you make all the wiring ? Have you got a schedule of it ?? Many compliments on such a clean car !!! Greetz, LRR |
I absolute love this car... It was a long time ago that someone built a mk1 that makes my heart go faster...
Swallow part, hate it... sorry... doesn't look like original and in my opinion, while you were at it, you should have done better! no hard feelings... Wow... what a ride! |

thanks for the compliments mate, dont know how you can say you hate it, just because it dont look exactly the same as an original i think it looks pretty funky, i could never get it exactly right from a big light panel. Quote:
