here another Rallye with a HF hood ;)
|
Yep, love the hood! Good idea!
|
nice progress!
Te lancia hood matches perfectly to the mk2! What do you have to change that it looks like the red one? Amazing!! |
Quote:
Well it needs a lot of work to be fitted to the Mk2  . The hood is 3 centimeters wider from the mk2 hood, and it opens on the opposite side, and in the upper end to the windscreen it don't follows the line  How will I get it to fit I really don't know  |
respect for your work...love it
|
Aren't you scared about the functionality of the changed rollcage design? They are really bend and in the way ain't they?
|
Quote:
I don't really catch you're point but no I'm not scared because there are factory Roll cages that have those curves  |
Just worried for your safety ;)
Hmmm. Can't imagine why there are factory cages that are inserted half way the bottom of the car. It's not very strong there. The closer you get to the A-beam the stronger and more effective it is. Are you going to add some reinforcement to the front? (I worked for Ford in the BIW design for the Kuga and current Mondeo and also in the design of armoured MB and BMW) |
Did you have to do some cutting to the dashboard?
Or is it a straight fit? Awesome project! ;) |
Quote:
No a lot of modifications and cutting were needed to fit the dashboard  |

Yes I plan on doing some reinforcement to the front of the car but how...I dont really know... yet :D I bought an OMP upper and lower strut. The lower one is the one that is being screwed to the front axle and the front arms( where the engine sits). I plan on some other reinforcements but if you have something on you're mind please help  |
I think you will cover it a whole lot with a support to the front suspension.
Now there are less positive bends in the cage that will make it bend easier. |

Here is what I have bought for the front |
What I mean is a support to the suspension housing from the rollcage. Or to the OMP bar
|
Nice project! Wouldn't it be nicer to have the rollcage threw the dash instead of in front of it?
|
Quote:
But underneath the dash I have a MK5 Heating, that will come in the way of the bars for the support of the suspension housing  Or maybe I should ditch the Heating and go on without it. It adds weight to the car unnecessarily  |
I think what DA-BRT means is this:
for more pictures and info about this check: http://www.longstreet-engineering.com @ projecten (projects) ;) That hood is awesome btw  |
Indeed something like this. That will make the rollcage a lot more rigid.
|

OK it's done the heating is going out. i bought a new sub frame for the MK5 dash and started rebuilding it from scratch  There will be a reinforcement from the roll cage to the front suspension housing and I'm thinking of a reinforcement from the front suspension housing to the end of the front arms :cowboy: |
I think in this stage of the project it's a good decision. Now it's only a minor setback. Goodluck.
