I want a G60 badly! But all these engines found in Ukraine are almost dead. Especially turbochargers... So i will swap my 1.6 RE with ABA or something... What happened to your Cabby? |
sold it in parts..nobody wanted a nearly 300bhp mk1 golf cabbie in the time I tried to sell it..once sold everyone wanted it...
|
My cabbie is also from '89.
Grtzzz |

didn't noticed the  ..yup..but it wasn't a daily car any more.. :frown: |
Quote:
And your Cabby is also red with white rims! What means "diesel" in your nickname? I think it is about another car... |
Quote:
You bet, my daily (and my first ride) is a 82 Rabbit L Diesel ![]() |

I want to buy a diesel Mk1 Golf for my wife, but it hard to find that car in good condition in our country... I think it will be good decision to have 2 cars on the same chassis when you plan to modify one of them? ;) |
Quote:
yeah makes things a little easier to compare from time to time. the two aren't very similar except the chasis. the daily is a Westmoreland (as I am sure you are aware) trust me, it's not in that good of shape, I post that pic because you can't see any rust in it. hehehe |
Not so much Cabby owners...
:( |
If you want to "meet" a lot of cabrio-owners, visit www.golfcabrio.com or www.golfcabrio.de

...Sad, but not for me. :( I can read/write only in English (and Russian, of course) So, i'll go back on VWvortex... |
it's smaller forum here then on vortex, but % wise we have a pretty big cabby memberbase (holland isn't exactly cabby country either)

slow!!!!!
hiya im kinda new here 2, but with a 1986 (no clipperkit) 1.3 carb cabby i think i win the crown of the slowest mk1 hear! i bought the car with the engine in it, as i was 18 at the time i was the only one of my friends who could afford the insurance here in england. ill try and take a few pics but im not 2 sure how 2 put them up on the site?! but not all is lost though, im older now and im trying (and failing ) 2 find a tuner 2 drop a vr6 in the front 4 me (1.8t 20v is 2 easy!). somebody went 2 the trouble of even changing the engine mount 2 drop this truely stupidly sized engine in, the car of course has no performance even with a weber, k&n and full powerflow exhaust. looks the part mind
|
I think that VR6 will be too heavy and expensive for this car... I would not do it. For me 1.8t or 2.0 16V is enough. I understand your wish to install the biggest motor that you can find after driving with 1.3 carb... I have 1.6 carb, its a little better, but i feel you... :)
