Rebuilt steering rack needs to be checked.... carbs tuned....chrome skid plate needs to be removed so i can run the wheels for this season.

And if you dont already know... its been over 4.5 years since this build started. Before today I have only driven this car twice. One test drive and a one way drive from Bellevue WA to Seattle WA.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

awesome!

what wheels are you gonna run? and why do you need to take off the skidplate to run them?

Chromosexual 27-06-2009 13:33

lets just say they are on 165/45's
i am on 195/45's now and with the skid plate i am already scraping..... so that added half to one inch drop is gonna be nuts.

...you will see the wheels soon enough ;) :D

otti 27-06-2009 16:59

so what size wheels are you running 15´s 16´s or whut???
and what in heaven is a chromed skid plate????
congratz by the way!!

Chromosexual 28-06-2009 03:15

Otti, Here is a link to a FS Thread for the supposed skid plate
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3885006

NO WHERE have I found data to confirm that this item is a true VWMS product (nothing noted on the actual plate). In fact.... it has been said that VW used these items to place upon the bottom of their bottom ends to prevent damage during shipping.

Either way.... mine has to go :P

Felt good to scrape it..... in a sick and twisted way :)

82dumptruck 28-06-2009 08:51

moar pictars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha

dekilo 28-06-2009 09:08

Damn u got big feet!

otti 28-06-2009 16:55

ahhhh, now i know what you are talking about!!

this "skid plate" is no vwms item, it was mounted on police and forrest work cars that have been ordered from the german government in the early 80´s.
hard to imagine how it made it over the pond though, they are hard to come by since almost all vehicles that had that "unterfahrschutz" mounted are already crushed.
i belive that the plate was only mounted on german cars
nice item, keep it!

p.s.

ohh my god a pic!!!!!!!!

Chromosexual 01-07-2009 02:21

well i just blew the money I had saved for something ... so it will have to be something I already have this season. That's not to say that the set of wheels I have planned isnt completely (and I mean completely) redone...just wait and see

...and honestly I feel like after 4.5 years of collecting shit, I am done spending money on this car......I mean I am still rolling on snow tires on my daily bro. It's ridiculous, ya know?

Can't argue with you there.... Ryan, Gracie, Murph, & Ariel (RMA & Perfect Metal Finishing) most definitely deliver perfection... and it shows
