nope, all i saw of OCMD was the DCI house, the ocean (in the middle of the night  ), Wawa for breakfast, Pickles Pub and a couple of other bars on the boardwalk... :D
Had a fantastic time though, and every car drove by at least a couple of times, so never missed anything

Tjaap 29-10-2009 00:52

Marc, that last Mk5 looks like it has your BMX on top

BigCaddy 29-10-2009 03:59

I miss the Bearded Clam. $22.00 for a round of 10 drinks including Tip was awesome.

I was so friggin hammered I smoked a cig.

otti 29-10-2009 18:39

everyone who has pics of that is welcome to post them...

later that day.
everyone met at toms place where john refused to drink beer- "i only like miller high life!"
i needed to remind people that we are ze germanz -and have a plan B !
i went to the car and pulled (to everyones surprise) a 18pack of said miller high life out of the trunk.
john was happy!

we went out with the gang where paul made pics that remindet me of this!

first drinking at every bar on the boardwalk later at "the clam chowder" 10 beers for 22$ (inclouding tip)
things got really funny, we took the bus home where i tryed too hook up with some girls, but my accent was getting out of control....
we where partying on pauls balkony and had a blast until the police showed up and threatened to trow paul into jail...
some of the guys went home and we where where talking a lttle more
pauli was getting all " no i do not trailer the car to h2o! " and we had to talk him into it!!

next day H2Oi !!!!!
we got up early and went to h2o unloaded the car and polished it again until we were happy with it

cant find more pics now since my bro has them on his cellphone..
someone took a pic of us walking around, of course with a beer in our hands, lol

in the end pauli won 1st in wild class and how we noticed much later best interior as well !

so much to " i will not trailer my car"
on our way out the guys from the grilled chicken stand at h20 offered a tray of chicken for 20$,
i tryed to get the price down bur ariel just payed it and everyone who was still there grabed a piece.
of courese there was much more chicken to eat and since everyone was stuffed we decided to take it home.
on our way from the car to the appartment we saw a woman walking her dog and decidet to offer her some good chicken.
remember the sign??

in the evening we needet to celebrate paulis win and sat on the balkony agan with some good Stroh80!

i am currently waiting for more pics of that....

ill hotlink them from steves account, lol!

tuki on moskito killing mission..

as said this was before the cops came...

next day paul left home but in his mindblowing generousity he offered us to stay in the appartment he had rented until wednesday!!
sad to see paul leave, we made really good friends with him and the gang!
the appartement

pauly left us somthing else as well

the weather was beautyful and we had 2 day to relax at the beach

we really enjoyed ocean city and the time off!

but time flew by and we needed to get rolling again ths time to the west

we just needed to see the white house and dc

the washington monument is smaller than i thought

the pentagon, i was actually surprised how close you can come to the building....

we saw a guy in a lambo that took off like there was no tomorrow....

front spoiler doing it wrong, haha.

more tomorrow

Chromosexual 01-11-2009 23:26

hahahahahah :D

rabfan 02-11-2009 14:43

ha ha ahahahaha. Nice

otti 02-11-2009 15:45

i hope you like it!

we drove on through beautiful america

saw these aircooled guys, clean cars!

entered tennessee

saw some crazy high antennas

the gm dealer had a variety of cars, rofl

and drove to memphis

we stayed overnight in mempihs and i had one of the most dissapointing expirences of the whole vacation:
since i am a jack daniels fan i really looked forward to buy a big bottle of tennessee whiskey in tennessee...
it was even more expensive 50 miles from the destillery than 5500 miles in germany. someone care to explain that?!

the mississppi river

since the jacky was too expensive we decided to grab som captain morgan captains reserve after rj´s recomendation, and a 12 pack of coors (our first)
and got happy. we really liked the coors since it was much closer to our german beer than the miller lite.
next morning we drove over the mssissippi into arkansas

check out the church,a real showing off piece of architekture! isnt pride a sin?

the guy had it all with him, big azz RV, big azz truck, big azz harley davidson...

nice viev from the p p break stop point..

oklahoma city (i guess?!)

more tomorrow

Chromosexual 02-11-2009 18:16

otti 02-11-2009 19:41

That sounds a bit odd, with Tenessee being Jack Daniel's State... :screwy:

Tjaap 03-11-2009 00:50

this is becoming quite a huge roadtrip... how many miles did you guys cover?

otti 03-11-2009 16:39

i will tell the stats at my last post of the actual roadtrip just need to finish the diary first!

where were we?
oklahoma city! the cheapest fuel we saw on the whole trip 2,13$/gal for regular, wow that is about 20% of the fuel price here in norway...

this is so far from legal in germany...

we met the legendary route 66 for the first time on our way west

and entered texas shortly afterwards

i was looking forward to come to texsas, not because of this

but because of THIS

i wanted a mega steak so badly!
we saw two guys sitting on a stage with a countdown to finish their BIG STEAK and all the sdes in 1 hour

i began to worry that i could not manage that and the 72$ bill that would await me so i chickened out and ordered the small 32oz one

boath of the guys managed and i regred that i didnt do it since i began to be really hungry after the small steak...it was soooooo good
i liked the interior too

after i finished my steak i went on and needed to order some barbecue ribs, my bro showed me the middle finger when i finished them too and began to look for the menu again...
we took some pics outside and drove on

hard to tell but there are some cars doug into the ground..

the road seemed endless

into new mexico, we drove still without a/c to conserve fuel...

the cel on our trusty corolla told us that maintanance was now required, ohhhmm ok (middle of nowhere)
we decided that that has to be for the regular oilchange and decided to not give a #### about it

we stopped in gallup and found the first cheap motel right at the off ramp, no pool though...
across the street we spotted something

a small car museum!!
we walked n and there was a class reunion going on but the owner (a woman!) told us that we could just go in since they are going to have open much longer that very day (wow, lucky for us!)

our favourite

my bro went to the gas station and used his newly learned english skills to buy the mandatory 18pack of beer!!
we sat outside on the porch and enjoyed the spectacular sunset....
hard to see but the sky was babyblue with pink clouds!!

what a nice day that was (still wish i had gotten the big steak though..)
in the car museum i also came up with a nice rule for europeans:
if you have no clue what car that is and you have never seen it before -it´s a lincoln!

Tjaap 03-11-2009 16:45

i could sooooooooooooooo eat that steak...

GerardMkIIVR6 03-11-2009 16:59

lol @ the dicussion about straight roads!
i will post a summary when the diary is finished! keep checking the tread and you will see!

on the road again!

we know that we had to drive through the dessert and that there would not be too much to take pictures of but i like the desert.
i lived in fuertevenura (spain) for two years and the nature looks simular there...

the rocky mountain ridges came in sight

a beautyful corvette heading the same way

had to take a pic with the route 66 sign

and entered arizona

a fierce sandstorm came up, do you see the motorcycle rider batteling the sidewind

we saw a sign at the roadside that directed us to a " meteorite crater " was hoping it was the one i thought about!
and it was!!
http://www.barringercrater.com

really cool truck parked in the lot

there was also a test group of gm cars with a opel vectra as reference car

we slept in flagstaff and had pasta for the first time ....and beer!
the only thing that was crazy in flagstaff was the trains that run through the town and warn/horn at every crossing about every 5 minutes.

we drove on to go to see the grand canyon

on the map it didnt look too far of the interstate either so we drove off.
the road to the skywalk was not finished so we drove 45min on a gravelroad that looked like this

AND THEN THE BIGGEST BUMMER OF THE WHOLE TRIP!!!
we came to a big parking lot where we HAD to park our car to walk to a store to purchase tickets.
43$ each for a 10min busride to the rim of the grand canyon and 29,90 extra each if we want to go on the skywalk.
on top of that you where not allowed to take your OWN camera with you so that you would have to buy photos expensive of them.

what the heck???? it would have been about 170$ to see something nature made itself, that is a MAJOR RIP OFF!
my brother and i agreed that we would not throw our money away like that and drove off, sadly the only pics we have from the grand canyon are these here we took when we unlawful (!) stopped on the roadside pretending we had car trouble...

i was really angry that you have to pay to see a national nature monument so we drove back the way we came to come closer to our next planned stop, who can guess where that was???

Tjaap 04-11-2009 17:02

Viva............................

Chromosexual 04-11-2009 17:52

my guess is the hoover dam?

Jens, lemme know the next time you want to do the Grand Canyon.... I would love to go..... fuck the money grubbing tourism bullshit!

otti 05-11-2009 20:28

bonus points for our chromosexual!

after i got over the dissaponting grand canyon experience and drive over the gravel road, we found the interstate again and drove on...

until we reached this:
the hoover damm

there was a group of mercedes gullwings, just lovely

we parked

and took a walk over the damm

there was some construction going on, a interstate bridge over the gauge!
that thing was really high and its going to be THE meeting point for BASE jumpers in the future!

not so much water in there..

lake mead (spelling?)

back on the road to las vegas

then there was something i didnt expect!
i wanted to stay at the circus circus again ( i stayed there last time when i was in vegas and i loved it)
and now we went up to the reception:
-they had rooms available
-only 34 dollars per person/night
-11th floor

i was so happy, the best hotel we had on our whole trip was also the cheapest!

unfortunately the carussellbar (remember fear and loathing las vegas) was closed!
i wanted to get hammered there until we would have problems to come off, like in the movie...

i bought a bottle of j.daniels and a 6 pack of coke and we took a strall down the strip...drinking whiskey/cola from the bottle and mixed from the can.

more vegas to come...

Big Caddy 05-11-2009 21:07

haha. nice. the more tucky (spelling) drinks the better his faces get.

I look forward to your updates.

breadfan83 05-11-2009 23:33

Nice Mercs! And the new version of the Gullwing is gonna be sick as well!
