Kommisar Rex is cool! But A Crime Odyssey? What series is that? Have I seen it? Maybe I have, but I would only know the Danish name for it, which would probably be the same here in Norway, as the languages are almost identical.

Ben, when foreign-language shows are aired in Australia, do you use subtitles or are they dubbed to English?

I must say that you Aussies make many good tv shows as well. I used to be a huge fan of Water Rats.

Hi Per,

The Eagle and Komissar Rex are subtitled here which I like

The Eagle A Crime Odyssey in Danish is (O with a cross on angle) Ornen: krimi odyssey something like that.

Yep Water Rats was fantastic I loved it

I guess I'll ask you the same question was Water Rats dubbed or subtitled, not that you guys need them, you speak English well enough

CSI.... don't get me started.
It's on every freakin' channel...every day of the week, .....well feels like it anyways.

'Water Rats' isn't dubbed or subtitled over here, oddly enough

( I moved from "Dutch"-land to Canada about 7 months ago btw )

Rex? Haven't seen that in ages, forgot it actually existed! German series don't seem to catch on very well here nowadays

Like in Airwolf: took me a while to notice, but every crashing helicopter ends in the same fireball over and over

Oh yeah, Ørnen, I saw a few of the episodes, but not the entire series. As I work evenings and nights, I rarely get the chance to follow tv series anymore.

The letter Ø/ø is the same in Scandinavia as Ö/ö in German speaking countries.

We use subtitles here, also used in Denmark and Sweden, but I know that many European countries actually dub their broadcasts. Germany, Poland, Italy, Russia and probably more, dub their broadcasts. The Germans are actually pretty good at it, but I've seen some Polish and Russian broadcasts, and you often hear one male voice, dark pitched, speaking every voice in the show. Often with the English sound in tha background!

Very true! When I was in USA 5 years ago, I got compliments on speaking a perfect American English. This is something I undoubtedly have learnt from television, as I never had been in any English speaking country before my trip to the states.

What I find sad is that there are no German shows on tv here at the time (that I know of), nor do I get any German tv stations over sattelite any more. The only German I get at the time is in car magazines and internet.

Germans are the masters when it comes to dubbing series/movies.
Very annoying, but mighty funny every now and then.

I think 'Ich werde zuruck kehren!' is my alltime favourite. Guess the movie

Cool sounds like you guys have interesting shows over there

Also another show I remember here was Bronski and Bernstein , they cruised around in a Bora and a 911 Cabriolet.
