the US & Canadiens are saying this ....

Ron's VR6 "thunderbunny" was for sale a few weeks ago here on craigslist in the PNW. Add has been flagged, though here is what it basicly said:

"Yes, this is it, the original Thunder Bunny. Built by Ron’s Parts Inc in Vancouver, BC, in 1995, it was the world’s first VR6 Volkswagen Rabbit. 14 years later, this car is still provides legendary thrills and it has just received a thorough overhaul/refurb. It was featured in European Car and a few other magazines from 1995-1997. I’ve owned a Skyline GT-R among other sports cars, but this car is more enjoyable to drive, delivers more giggles, and turns more heads with its sweet engine sound than anything I’ve driven…997 Porsche GT3 included. Although the VW R32’s are nice, this car is everything those should have been. It literally defines the term “immediate gratification.” Small, light, powerful, big brakes…anything you do in this car, it does it without hesitation and with an immediacy that makes virtually all other cars feel dull. I hate to part with it, but I’ve owned it for 6 years and I have a new car being delivered soon. I will miss this car dearly."

can anyone PROVE this wrong?

That's the one the peach MkI from Awesome Baarlo RULED.
That was i think the first one because the Brits where the first ones with converted VR engines, the first MkII that was Paul MacCallum of Deutchcar also Britisch.
But think we wil never know because these days the VDub scene is small because of internet but those days it where cars that we saw 1 time in a year or never.

I think this will be a difficult thing to prove. 1995 sounds about right to me, but you would have to come up with the month it was build or something like that. Or there will always be a point of discussion.

My mum bought the mk1 vr6 from awesome after they built it. got fond memories of it. I used to get dropped off at school in it when i was 12 (I'm now 21) i used to think it was a bit embarrassing as it was soooo loud! my dad also had the mk2 rallye at the time, also a very lovely car. i miss them both!

here's the rallye outside awesome, no idea when it was taken. can't seem to find any pics of the peach when we had it on the computer and all of the photographs will be at my parent's house so can't put any of them up but will ask for a couple next time i'm over there.

I was such a fool to think that my mum was embarrassing! they are the coolest parents ever. unfortunately they don't have vw's anymore but i carried on the tradion and have a mk3 polo 1993 on ats classics.
