yeah makes things a little easier to compare from time to time. the two aren't very similar except the chasis. the daily is a Westmoreland (as I am sure you are aware) trust me, it's not in that good of shape, I post that pic because you can't see any rust in it. hehehe

Default slow!!!!!

hiya im kinda new here 2, but with a 1986 (no clipperkit) 1.3 carb cabby i think i win the crown of the slowest mk1 hear! i bought the car with the engine in it, as i was 18 at the time i was the only one of my friends who could afford the insurance here in england. ill try and take a few pics but im not 2 sure how 2 put them up on the site?! but not all is lost though, im older now and im trying (and failing ) 2 find a tuner 2 drop a vr6 in the front 4 me (1.8t 20v is 2 easy!). somebody went 2 the trouble of even changing the engine mount 2 drop this truely stupidly sized engine in, the car of course has no performance even with a weber, k&n and full powerflow exhaust. looks the part mind

I think that VR6 will be too heavy and expensive for this car... I would not do it. For me 1.8t or 2.0 16V is enough. I understand your wish to install the biggest motor that you can find after driving with 1.3 carb... I have 1.6 carb, its a little better, but i feel you...

to post images, when you will write your reply, click icon above (with yellow mountain) and show web link for your pic. You can use Photobucket.com to place your pics for free, like i do it.

I have two Cabbies now, my '87 that I have owned since new and an '88 that is my latest project car.

If you want to meet cabby owners try Topless Rabbit Forums

It is an American based forum, but has quite the following from all of North America.

Good folks and lots of good info too.

hi there,

i own 2 golf convertibles, both of the first making, one from 1983 which is under construction, and will become an totally new car.

the other one is my daily, and is from 1992.

they bot have a 2H engine, but the oldtimer had a 1600 just like yours before the engine swap.
