Volkswagen Van Power Wows The Crowds With Best Result Of The Season
The bright orange Volkswagen Caddy Racer van that competes in the Volkswagen Racing Cup, is continuing to wow the crowds with its high performance and agility.
In its last outing at the Rockingham Raceway, where it qualified 21st on the grid, it made up 13 places to finish in eighth, its best result of the season so far this year. In addition, at the recent GTI International event, the UK’s biggest event for enthusiasts of all high-performance vehicles from the Volkswagen Group, it outpaced many hot hatches in the 0-60 sprint challenge by achieving a time of just 6.6 seconds. The Caddy racing van, which is hard to miss in its orange livery from its sponsor, the RAC, has a 2.0-litre TDI engine which has been upgraded to deliver over 270 PS, and equipped to full racing specification with roll-cage and stripped interior. Simon Elliott, who when he’s not racing the Caddy van is also Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: ‘I love driving the Caddy as the crowds give it a really warm reception at every round of the Volkswagen Racing Cup.’ ‘As one of the best-selling Volkswagen vans in the UK, it is fantastic to prove that apart from being such a versatile and durable van, the Caddy is also great to drive - even in extreme situations like this,’ he continued The Volkswagen Caddy van will be in action again at the next round of the Volkswagen Racing Cup at Silverstone on 14 and 15 August and then on 29 and 30 August at Snetterton, 25 and 26 September at Brands Hatch, and the last races of the season at Donington Park on 16 and 17 October.
