oh no doubt, when i ever get enough money to "do america" i will be spending alot of time on couches of vortexers if they let me ;)

Rassig 10-03-2004 06:14

No problem! I've got a spare bedroom and comfortable fold-out couch in the living room. However, you may wake up with one or two 14 pound cats sleeping next to you! :D

Futon!

Wow, so you bought this new??? You must be really happy with it!
I flew over the windy city two weeks ago, hell of a view from 36000 feet!

Apart from a few window regulators and the dreaded self-machining trans back in '96, it's been extremely reliable. In fact, even at 165k mikes, I still have the original waterpump, AC compressor, fuel pumps... and even the rear tail lamp and front blinker bulbs! :)
I just replaced the starter and and alternator last year!

Dude, where is all the action over there? I am near Chicago right now (Charleston Ill.)

RedJet 10-03-2004 18:55

Nice car, but those f(r)og lights... better get rid of it

 They're Bosch Pilot fog lamps that were on the car as delivered by the dealer. I actually like 'em and think that they are "period correct" in regards to the old school look. Most importantly, I only turn 'em on when it's rainy or foggy.

Or...
are you suggesting that f(r)og lights are something only for French cars? :D

BTW, I'll soon be replacing my crappy US spec aeros with some e-code aeros! :)

Since I don't know what "scene" you are into, here are two good places to start:
http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/
http://www.Chicago-Scene.com

NHF, OK. ;) If you take it from the oldskool perspective alright. Just a matter of personal taste, that's all...

FMA 17-03-2004 07:36

I really need that frontbumper :(
I'm flying over to NY in May; I hope I can still buy them at the local VW dealer there...
