Looking for a Cabby and finally found one... :)
What do you think? GOLF Cabrio GTI
My concernings are about the "GTI": is it original or not? How can I be sure about that? The announcement says: 1983 and 1.8liters... May be looking at the horse power reported on the veicle registration book? How many horse power should have this version of GTI? The front bezel is not from a GTI, right? Double beam is ok for that my? I think I'll go to see it during the next week end... Thanks for helping! :D Max |
The Golf cabrio as a GTI is never made.
The Golf cabrio had a GLI version with 112 hp 1.8 DX-engine or 1.6 EG-eingine. A convertible is about 200 kg heavier then a closed Mk1. It could not have the performance of a GTI. |
Apart from not being a GTI it seems way too expensive. I must admit it's clean though. Not sure how important it is that it's originally from Italy but for that amount you can bring in two clean ones from Germany.

Thanks for the explanations...
So is not definetively a GTI LOL Yes, it's a little expensive, also here can be found for less, but I was guessing if it really was a GTI, now I know it doesn't even exist... :) Anyway to import a mk1 from Germany for us is too much expensive: re-matriculation and new plate is a certain cost unfortunately... I'll look somewhere else or at least I'll try to negotiate the price after having seen this false GTI... |
Agreed it is NOT a GTI.
If you are looking for a MK I Cabriolet, I suggest you check out www.cabby-info.com Kamy has a very good buyers guide and a great explanation of all Cabriolet versions. |
Many thanks for the link...!!

Now, after some little modifications, it looks like this...

Thanks guys...! :)
I found these second hand ATS for few money, they are perfect, but I only have a problem on front wheels, with ET20 they just protude from the fender, not good for police... I can adjust a little more the camber, but I think it's not enough. Otherwise I could look for the ET28 version only for front axle, but other money have to be spent... Third option is to mount the little black plastic GTI fenders, but I don't like them so much... Suggestions? Thanks, Max |
Back to BBS Mahle 14", waiting for the update of vehicle registration book for 15" rims...
