you guys getting tired of the "euro" look yet?

not styling, but rather - the phrase that every north american little shiester kid on vortex spews off 9983494389578932477 times/day?:p:D

seriously... the "that's euro" or "this is sooooo euro" or "is this euro yet??" bullshit that i read day in and day it pisses me off to no end - and i'm canadian!:p

these guys need a serious slap across the face. they might as well be shouting "is my car fast and furious yet??? or is it just rice?" bwahahahah - dumbass little fucks.

i mean, i'm not knocking import styling or oem upgrades ie the aftermarket european spec fenders i have to install on my 85 golf - nothing wrong with that... it's the wide lipped rims and stretched tyres etc (which there is nothing wrong with them at all, i like them) that people post pics of 9894328593485 times a day and ask "am i euro yet???" or is this "euro-cool or what??"

fucking hosers, eh! [/canadian]

complete bunch a wankers, the whole fucking lot of them! [/english last name]

shiest kopfs! (sp?) [/"euro"] lol

okay, rant over - comment/reply & carry on with your jolly "euro" day, already!:p:cool:

:D

What I hate most about the word Euro when it comes to the car styling scene in USA, is how the "Altezza" look lights were initially used to describe these lights. Other than that, I'm pretty much ok with how it is used in US car talk. Well, at least, when the car in question is actually very "Euro-looking". Gosh, I said it myself! :D

vw_dick 19-04-2004 01:58

lol no shit... j-spec lights would have been more appropriate - seeing as they were inspired by the toyota altezza to begin with!

man, like my father always says... "there's nobody stupider than people."

sjampoo 19-04-2004 06:29

Hahaha! :-)

I dunno wot 'Euro' is like, since I'm a European myself :-)

I think (If I hear 'wide rims, stretched tyres') that it would be 'duitse stijl' or ' German Style ' in our little country...

lexus look lights (yeah, the first toyota that featured the 'see through chrome lights, is called lexus LS400 over here) are RICE, so I dunno what the fuck they mean with 'euro?'

We do have some 'comment' on peeps on spoilers..

We call it 'tupperware' :)
When the outside of your car features more weight in plastic than in sheet metal, it's tupperware! (not rice),.. it's rice when it's a honda :-) it's fast-n-fuck when it features 'decals', it's both when it's got neon :)

Oh, but off course.. some stick neon under there dub, some stick spoilers on there dub, some stick some 'go faster decals' on there dub,.. When you do that all together: Go stand in the corner!

vw_dick 19-04-2004 07:12

bwahahah - nice post!

iirc, in japan the first w/ those lights was the toyota altezza/lexus is300 - which is why they call them "altezzas" here.

some call them "euro style" and that is simply for marketing cheap plastic crap to little kids and dumb men who like to think that because they originated across an ocean that they are "european" - but the stupid fucks don't bother confirming which ocean. ;):p:D

tupperware - that's classic! i like it. :)

vw_dick 19-04-2004 08:47

lol - see my response a few posts down :p

I always enjoy going after people who badge tune their cars

"Shit man, it must have cost you alot to import that vento from europe"... or something to that effect. And it makes it really fun when they talk about swapping headlights..... Jolfs and Getta's --> call them Bolfs and Gora's

and ya know what.... the whole styling thing pisses me off, especially naming and defining the styles ("is this euro/rat stylez/old school/late 90's/etc...")

and same for the whole "vortex god" status (who has the nicest car this month  )

vw_dick 19-04-2004 10:35

lol - more funny shit!

fyi:

i swapped my lights :p 85 squares to 7" single round hella h4's w/ relays & 90/130 (or 130/90?) bulbs = night into day.

:p

i also rock an '86 jetta hood on my '85 golf cl... thus making it a mk2 jolf. bwahahah - a few people have pm'd asking how to make a mk2 jolf and i have to tell them it's still the same, it's just a joke! :)

sjampoo 19-04-2004 14:34

JOKE or GOKE?

But yeah, I like the way my carz look, but that's not really as important as to how they steer, feel and are :-)

(not saying I don't fuckin car how they look). But I don't do 'badge-tune'. I use stickers :-)..

Go to them vortex kiddies, and explain, there's a difference between looks and speed, between styling and tuning..

I HATE the mixup with TUNING and TUPPERWARE-TUNING (AKA Styling).

Go-faster decals do count though :-)

i love that "2 years and counting hype" on the tex... since everything i own is euro.... :D makes for alot of hits on your posts :p

vw_dick 19-04-2004 17:48

2 years and counting?

everything i have isn't american, so it's pretty sweet too.:D

I'm debadging Tron before I paint 'er, then rebadging with a badge that isn't even VAG... but rather, from two other manufacturers.;)

vw_dick 20-04-2004 03:25

ah

traded my 15" estoril wheels & 195 tires for 13" ats cups w/ 175/50's - 4 of 'em blasted & spray painted, and a 5th with no rubber/blast or paint.

wicked trade.

will post big ass pick thread in the next 72 hours - along with a TON of "spotted" cars.

Gento or Volf  :p

you hit the nail right on the head
the first, last, and only styling I have done to my car was change the grill from Jetta lights to quad rounds with Kamei Grill spoilers, and that was 3,5 years ago.

otherwise I keep the engine, suspension, brakes, etc... in excellent tune
I'd rather have fun in my car than have it look good

You 'Euro'-style lamer :-)

moehahaha.. I'm a european guy,. I drive a euro-style car,. and I did virtually nothing at all :-) but it's 100% euro.. I must be rockin'!

WHOOOT! I'm a Euro-style GOD

vw_dick 20-04-2004 18:18

fucking morons are among the worst offenders over here... but it starts right from the domestic car companies.

do you know how many domestic car ads come on tv & the commentary says something like "european styling" or "european design" or "european inspired" or "european engineering" etc etc - guess what corporate fuckbags, this entire continent was "european inspired/designed/engineered" & stocked!

i hate overplayed marketing buzz words, with a passion!

sjampoo 20-04-2004 20:13

:-)

Every car ad or even tv-show in the netherlands has the same opinion on every new car:

sporty (it's got white dials, oh my god, this must be crossing the sound barriere in no time)
comfortable (2 cupholders, elektric (but only front) windows and stuff
economical (because.. (they never tell, they just trow in some figures)
and
best of all:

It's a real dream to drive!! (handles perfect, quick yet stable, great cornering, yet comfy, silent but fast)

What car did you have in mind? The Lotus Elise? or the Pontiac LeMans

talking about Euro-style....
Pontiac:

Opel:

Daewoo:

That's a American, Euro and Korean car... all the same..

vw_dick 20-04-2004 21:07

lol ya i know... time to quote good ol' dad once again:

what's even more funny is that nobody can own the styles... they hop back and forth between a whole bunch of places and everyone is always copying eachother

Last summer I was watching some german show on the VW shows (woertheresee and some others) and they interview people that were all raving about the american hot rod style and everyone had billet rims and fancy pinstriping and graphics and stuff on the sides of their cars.

Then a few months ago in like the Golf or PVW, they were predicting the "flat primered look" was going to be the "in thing" this year (which tons of DCI people in the USA have been doing for years)

so I'm really confused now
Euro's are using "American Style"
but
Yanks are using "Euro Style"
think of how fucked up that is.... you can't really define a style since the people you're copying are copying you

and Sjampoo......
General Motors owns both pontiac and opel
so to be cheap, they just use the same design over and over again with different badges (look up the cadillac catera)
