Golf GTD Mk2 1987

So this is my Golf GTD Mark 2 from 1987.
The engine is a 1.6 Turbo Diesel with 312.000 Km. :D

Things to do:
Change bumpers or bumpers color, i hate seing them painted with the body tone.
Do the same with fender plastics.
Change some rubbers, specially the ones on the roof of the car.
Full bodywork and paint job.
Paint VW logo Matte black.
Change windshield
Change window elevator

Repairs:
Car kicks like crazy when i try to maintain speed in first or second gear.
Check brakes.

Finished repairs:
Engine repaired, no more noisy valves.
Diesel oil and water leakes repaired.
Water circuit tubes replaced.

This is how it got to my hands:

Well, the funds are really limited. I need to save to get a new paint job. This one isnt as good as it appears. The old owner painted it himself, and he sucks at it. He also did stuff ill never understand that i need to reverse. For one, the long distance lights had aluminium paper in them as you can see in the photo. He also put blue yogurt caps on the window lever...wtf...seriously! I need to find original rings for it still...lol.
Ah, and the Opel rimms. The GTD used to have original Golf wheels, the ones with 5 rays...i think thats the word, i'm not english so sometimes i miss a few words. Back to the subject, he traded them for those ugly Opel wheels...! :screwy:

The paint looks a little flat. Don't you think a good pollish would take care of that? It's worth a try before deciding to repaint the entire car. ;)

Lol at the yoghurt-caps. :D

Takeogtd 21-09-2010 20:04

nope, its full of dripping all over the place. And you can see the sandpaper scratches underneath the paint.

Is it a real GTD?
Always thought the GTD had an IC setup...

Audi1981 23-10-2012 21:53

Only the cars after the "erneuerung" (facelift/update)
The old GTD's where 70hp, same as the normal TD, nextgen GTD's featured the IC, different turbo and injection pump :D
