Golf mk1 GTI Turbo

Hi there!
Here I am at my 3rd mk1 :screwy:

This one is a track/hill-climb car only, even if it has its regular plate, cannot be used on pubblic roads.

1982 GTI, was originally Inari green, has been deeply modified by the old owner, that used it only a couple of times, than decide to sell it

It mounts a mk3 2.0 8V combined with a Garrett turbo, Marelli ignition (coming from a Lancia Delta), shorted gear box, reinforced clutch and Quaife torsen differenzial.
Very fast and great torque also at low rpms
It rolled 260hp at 1bar.
Inside I have two racing seats, with OMP 4 points belts, elettric power steering, hydraulic hand brakes, manual brake balance, total extinguishing system, full roll-bar, aluminum interior finishes and other minor things...

The project for next year is to mount an ABF 16V engine together with a G60 supercharger, estimated with 320hp at 1.4bar

Great car!

Can you tell more about the electric power steering?

Thanks everybody...!

Steering power comes from a Fiat :shake: has been adapted to the original steering column, it works very well and the control over the car is always good, especially al low speed because of the slick tyres very hard to move and because the steering gear is demultiplied.

I have two set of tyres: 8x13 ET10 Fondmetal rims with 200-540 Pirelli slick tyres and standard brakes or 8x15 ET10 rims (Rota BM8 to be bought soon) with larger front disks

Here's a pic of power steering

Really nice, especially the mk7 / mk1 combination :D

If you are planning to go the abf 16vg60 route, what would the basic setup look like? I have always learned that the g charger has a relatively small capacity for filling a 2 litre engine. 1.8 16vG60 engines seem to be more potent.

Hope to see more of your cars and projects

Thanks EnVeeZee!

Who is preparing the new engine has his own abf G60, rulled 480hp. I've been on his car, very fast and powerfull.
Look for Albesiano Andrea on Facebook :)
