welcome.. nice project. i like the colors too.. looks like Aviator grey and Nimbus grey from the TT

Stijn 20-12-2007 23:13

Welcome, indeed nice project. Colours do seem rather special, are they modern colours like Jaap is suggesting? Or an old equivalent?

blake 21-12-2007 02:27

thanks. Im actually changing the color, its going to be mocha brown (B6 vw passat color) with white leather interior with brown piping.

Looks very good, love your garage, nice wooden with the little windows..

blake 21-12-2007 14:49

thanks for the kind words guys..
im more than likely going to tackle narrowing the beam this weekend. i was thinking about going with a 6 inch narrow. Does anyone have pros/cons of going with that much of narrow?

PerL 22-12-2007 20:06

A black steering wheel, wasn't that a one year only kind of deal? 1963? I had a 64 with a light tan steering wheel.

Other than that, looks like a nice project! I think your new color combo is going to look great!

What a gem :D

I missed out on buying my own gem that was round the corner from my work and it was in my price range too :(

Good Luck with the resto Blake

Stijn 22-12-2007 23:27

Cons: everybody AND their moms do narrows nowadays :)

blake 04-01-2008 15:32

talked with the body shop (401restos.com) and the car is going in for paint in 2 weeks. They also have a 63 rag that they are cutting up and grafting into my bug. picked up these wheels, inspired by the machinist on here and will be going for the same look.

when done i can only hope they turn out as well as his were done.

blake 16-01-2008 16:53

Thanks!!! I started working on them last night sanding them down, getting ready for powder coating and polishing

vwcrewcab 19-02-2008 16:44

Nice project!
But 6 inch narrowing with these wheels, I can't imagine it will fit.
When can we see new pictures :woowoo:

Pedro Rosa 19-12-2008 04:51

Nice restauration, but i prefer the original wheels.
